India's telecom major Reliance Jio is likely to make a market debut in 2025, news agency Reuters reported. The agency added that the retail arm of Reliance Industries Limited could set an IPO later. 

Citing sources, the news agency said that Jio, one of the profitable businesses of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is valued at over $100 billion.

Ambani in 2019 said Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail would "move towards" a listing within five years.

Reuters report said that the telecom has firmed up plans to launch the Jio IPO in 2025 as it internally believes that it has achieved a stable business and revenue stream in becoming India's no.1 telecom player.

Recently, Jio lost a battle with the world's richest person Elon Musk over the satellite spectrum. 

Ambani could face a bigger challenge if Musk's Starlink launches a service in India. Meanwhile, the RIL chairman has partnered with Nvidia to develop AI infrastructure.

However, a source told Reuters that JIo's IPO  could be India's biggest-ever IPO overtaking Hyundai India.

This month Reliance Jio announced its Q2 result in which it revealed that its 5G subscriber base grew from 130 million to 147 million and its average revenue per user (ARPU) increased from Rs 181.7 to Rs 195.1.

The company posted a profit of Rd 6,536 crore.

Bharti Airtel recently announced changes to its leadership team, as the telecom company plans to separate its Direct-to-Home (DTH) and entertainment units as part of a new restructuring strategy. Airtel will also establish customer experience as a standalone function.

Airtel has appointed Shashwat Sharma as the next Managing Director & CEO, while Gopal Vittal will transition to the role of Executive Vice Chairman. These changes will take effect on January 1, 2026.

In his role as CEO designate, Sharma will oversee the entire end-to-end consumer business. Vittal will focus on mentoring and preparing Sharma for his transition to MD & CEO of Bharti Airtel Ltd.

According to media reports, Airtel’s restructuring will separate DTH from the converged entertainment category, creating two distinct areas: Connected Homes—which will include Broadband and Converged Entertainment—and DTH.

The Connected Homes division will aim to drive rapid growth and competitiveness, while the DTH unit will focus on achieving world-class efficiency and competitiveness.

Additionally, Airtel will establish Customer Experience as an independent function. Shivan Bhargava will be appointed as the Director of Customer Experience and will lead this unit.

Siddharth Sharma, currently the CEO of DTH, will be appointed Director of Marketing and CEO of Connected Homes. Pushpinder Gujral, currently CEO of the Upper North region, will take on the role of CEO and Director of DTH.

Amit Tripathi, currently the Director of Marketing and Customer Experience, will become Director of Market Operations, overseeing all regional circles and distribution strategy.

Airtel to separate D2H and entertainment units, restructuring plans to benefit business

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has unveiled its new logo and seven citizen centric services. The launch ceremony was held at Bharat Sanchar Bhavan and was attended by Secretary Telecom, CMD BSNL& senior Officers from DoT, BSNL, CDoT, ITI & TCIL. 

The logo was launched in presence of Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region and MoS for Communications and Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar. 

The new logo symbolizes strength, trust and accessibility. The green and white arrows surrounding India emphasize the company's expansive nationwide reach, while the vibrant orange backdrop signifies warmth and inclusivity. The tagline 'Connecting Bharat' highlights BSNL’s mission to bridge the digital divide by offering a modern, reliable telecom network that connects both urban and rural India.

As per the company, the seven new services represents BSNL’s renewed focus on delivering secure, affordable and reliable connectivity to every corner of Bharat. The seven initiatives aims at revolutionizing how India connects, communicates and enhances its digital security. "The bouquet of these seven citizen centric services, are Made in India, Made for India and Made by India," Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said while unveiling the logo.

Notedly, BSNL will soon deploy its 5G services. The company has successfully conducted trials of 5G RAN and core in both the 3.6 GHz and 700 MHz bands.

Scindia mentioned that BSNL is the only Telecom Service Provider (TSP) in India to launch these seven indigenous services, which from now on will always keep BSNL at the forefront of technological innovations in India. Talking about India’s indigenous 5G vision, the Minister shared that BSNL has embarked upon several initiatives to strengthen India’s ambitious 5G roll-out. "We have conducted successful trials of Indigenous 5G RAN and Core in both 3.6 GHz and 700 MHz bands and India will soon deploy indigenous 5G services. He added that out of the 1,00,000 BSNL 4G sites planned to be set-up by mid-2025, many will also be graduated to 5G connectivity," he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Communication and Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar highlighted that time and again, BSNL has stood as the nation’s backbone, providing telecom services in remote, challenging terrains. He emphasized that BSNL has unwavering government support and has received two revival packages. He further added that BSNL has skilled manpower and has nationwide reach.
